"Twenty-Four Hour Service" was the slogan painted on the two-bay garage in Glen Daniel, West Virginia, June 1, 1976 when Jim and Jack Phillips opened for business.

Today, Phillips Machine Service, Inc. has grown to one of the largest full service companies of its type in the industry with over 120,000 square feet of shop area.

The company is involved in almost all phases of repairs, remanufacture, fabrication, development and sales of mining machinery.

Some specific areas of operation include: repair and remanufacturing of cutter drums; rebuild of continuous miners, roof bolters, scoops, etc; rebuild of complete longwall faces; new manufacture and remanufacture of shuttle cars; the sale of used equipment, and service exchange assemblies.

In 2000 Phillips introduced the Freedom™ Car shuttle coal hauler as its first OEM product. Designed to meet the increased haulage capacity requirements of today's coal mine, The Freedom™ Car can be provided with battery power or cable power, as a new or rebuilt shuttle coal hauler; whatever is required for our customer’s application.

Phillips offers the exchange of completely rebuilt continuous miners and shuttle cars of most currently popular models, regardless of original manufacturer. A warranty equivalent to new machine warranty is included with all rebuilt and remanufactured machines.

In an effort to better serve its customers, Phillips Machine has developed a network of sales and service satellite offices in Virginia, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Utah, as well as international representation.
